The School Improvement Action Plan for MSS is divided into three general categories: Communication Arts, Technology, and Student Success.The action plan calls for specific strategies to be implemented to reach each of the objectives listed below:

Communication Arts
• Increase reading comprehension of all students

• Develop integrated reading lessons in all content areas
 
• Improve listening skills of all students

• Increase and vary the writing opportunities

• Develop best practices for listening and speaking skills
 
• Develop differentiated instruction strategies

Technology
• Define for and instruct all students at MSS in the ethical and fair use of technology

• Increase the proficiency of all students in the use of word processing, data management and presentation software

• Conduct training for all studentsin the use of Media Center Research Technology

• Increase the awareness regarding the appropriate technology to use for specific tasks

Student Success
• Increase the exercise of positive citizenship

• Promote success strategies

• Provide organizational instruction and tools to better manage time and establish individual goals

Goals
• Students will become proficient readers.

• Students will become proficient writers.

• Students will use technology to enhance the learning process.

• Students will develop a positive success pattern in academic and social areas.

• Students will respond positively, academically and emotionally, when challenged at the appropriate academic level.

 

Staffing
L’Anse Creuse is proud that it employs staff that are nurturing with a genuine desire to see students achieve their highest potential. All teaching staff meet highly qualified standards as set forth by the No Child Left Behind federal legislation. In addition, Middle School - South employs:

1 staff with a master’s degree plus 30 hours
5 staff with an education specialist’s degree
